Chinese Birthday Cake
March 11th, 2008 by Shanghai Daily

……We were at the birthday party for the one-year-old of our friends. Between the leftover dishes a big cake was planted. Chinese birthday cakes are a bit different form Western, more foam and a different kind of cream.
They taste ok, but for some reason the cake ends up being thrown around at a lot on birthdays, not this one, although I’m sure the birthday boy would have participated given the chance.

Ooooh, save me a piece! That looks wonderful. When we lived in San Francisco we used to enjoy cakes like this at friends parties.Beautiful photo!

Chinese cakes are not as sweet as traditional western cakes. It’s less calorie I would think with fruits on top.
Who enjoys the throwing? Kids , adults or all!
Pretty much all, but more the younger generation I have the feeling than the older.
It was only just a week ago that I went to meet a friend in his company. It was also his birthday and when I entered most of the employees that were leaving were covered in cake. He himself had had also his share. There had been some throwing going on:)
