Changes happen all the time in Shanghai. Back in 2005,in our previous apartment we saw it happening outside of our window.
It started with the construction of 4 new apartment buildings, behind the old quarter.
It ends with the new buildings finished and the old ones slowly, brick by brick, taken down.

Sunset as seen from my old apartment. The last couple of days it has been rain.

…..And the new window has to be fitted in a new frame. Tonight they’re supposed to install the glass as well.

After the sliding doors had been removed it was time to replace the windows as we like one big window in the middle.

..As we are renovating our apartment a pic of the process.
Almost all Chinese apartments have a balcony attached that is mostly used for hanging laundry. We like it to become part of the living, hence the sliding doors were the first to go.
